Weather in North Idaho: It's Not What You Might Think

The weather in North Idaho is tricky to predict and it seems like it changes every 15 minutes. The unpredictable weather makes life in North Idaho interesting and the changing seasons become something to look forward to. The area from Coeur d'Alene to Sandpoint, Idaho is full of natural beauty and a diverse array of wildlife living in close proximity to people. With four distinct seasons, and incredible lakes, rivers, and mountains, many people are proud to call North Idaho home. The weather in North Idaho can get cold in the winter but it isn't as bad as many people think. With snowfalls usually averaging less than a foot at a time, it usually melts off before too long. the shortest day of the year is in December and is only 8.5 hours long, so winter in North Idaho can feel a little dreary. There are times when the clouds stay for a few weeks straight, but when the sun does poke through after a few weeks of cloudy weather, it is a glorious thing! Summertime makes up for the long cloudy winters and the summer weather is North Idaho is absolutely amazing. The longest day of the year is in June and it is 16 hours of daylight! Locals make good use of summer weather and many people spend their days cruising one of the many lakes in the region. Swimming is a great activity as well, with loads of public sandy beaches to choose from. Spring and fall are two amazing seasons as well. The wildflowers and flowering trees seem to be everywhere in spring and the weather quickly warms up and becomes quite pleasant. Fall is a favorite time as well and the vivid colors of the trees changing is absolutely stunning. As you can see, the weather in north Idaho is a wonderful and ever changing natural beauty that leaves many people in awe - it's certainly not something to be feared!
